Children First Progress

With 2020 well underway, our team is celebrating the progress of Children First software (CFS) over the past year. At the end of 2019, there were over 12,000 children registered in the system. These children now have an identity and hope for the future and are on their path to a family because of the efficiency the software provides. Previously, children’s information was housed in paper files, they now benefit from a consolidated electronic record of their own that helps to identify the best possible outcome for the child.

CFS is currently being used in three countries: Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Uganda. Check out the success of these countries in using CFS.

Dominican Republic

· 100% of licensed children’s homes use CFS.

· 100% of children living in orphanages are registered in CFS.

· Began CFS Placement pilot implementation which helps facilitate the placement of a child from institutional care into a safe family.

· Utilizing the CFS application, the DR safely placed hundreds of children into loving families.

Honduras

· BEB has connected with important government employees and officials who are learning CFS and laying the framework for CFS to be used across the country.

· 48% of licensed children’s homes (86) use CFS.

· 39.3% of children living in orphanages (3,146) are registered in CFS, and all are in the Planning Module which means their cases are being investigated.

· Identified 25 cases for future family reunifications.

Uganda

· 12.5% of licensed children’s homes (18) use CFS.

· 11% of children living in licensed children’s homes (683) are registered in CFS.

· The government is working to address the large number of unlicensed facilities in hopes of registering the estimated 35,000 vulnerable children within these homes to bring them one step closer to being placed in safe and loving families.

· Trained more than 50 children’s home workers on the CFS application.

· Made concrete plans for 2020 to expand into all licensed institutions in the country.

· Utilizing the CFS application, Uganda reunified 17 children with their families.

We are encouraged for the future because of the success in these countries. Through these collaborations we have learned how this platform can uniquely assist each country, and the CFS Development team makes daily improvements specific to the countries’ needs.

We are also excited to announce the release of CFS 2020.0, an updated system that the team has worked on for the past 6 months. The basic foundation remains, and we now have improvements to support the governments’ need for the following elements: organization by geography, increased visibility of data, and surfacing critical tasks. These latest features will help them gather critical information for vulnerable children more efficiently, enabling them to quickly and safely place children in stable families. In past years, CFS was mainly used by social workers and NGOs, but with this release the government employees now have the tools they need to enter data, conduct case planning, and make more informed decisions for a child to be placed into a family. This update is a pivotal moment for the entire process, and we are looking forward to seeing it fully implemented.

These numbers and updates illustrate the passion of our team and country partners and their dedication to children around the world. Thank you for supporting Both Ends Believing and Children First software. We cannot wait to see the impact on thousands of children in Dominican Republic, Honduras, Uganda, and future country partners in 2020 and beyond.
